Online editing of documents

Did ever need to make changes to an already uploaded file? The first thing that comes to one's mind is to download the file, open it on one's computer, change it and upload it back to the account. It works this way but is way too inconvenient and takes a lot of time. How can documents be edited faster and with less efforts?

To achieve that, use the online editing feature powered by the Zoho online services. In this case you will not have to download and re-upload a file, as it can be edited directly on your WebAsyst Files account. Online editing is supported for the following widely used types of text documents:

  • DOC (Microsoft Word text document)
  • XLS (Microsoft Excel spreadsheet)
  • ODT (OpenOffice/LibreOffice text document)
  • ODS (OpenOffice/LibreOffice spreadsheet)
  • TXT (plain text file)

In order to make changes to a file uploaded to WebAsyst Files, choose the "Edit online (Zoho)" file context menu item. The Zoho online editor will appear in a new browser tab or window, which looks very similar to the text and spreadsheet processors in Microsoft Office and OpenOffice/LibreOffice.

After you have made your changes, click on the floppy icon in the top-left corner of the editor window and close the tab (or window).

Note: Every time you save a file and close the online editor, a new file version appears in the version history. If you edited a certain file several times using Zoho, you can download and view any of its previous versions by selecting the "Old versions" item in the file context menu.
