How does the Anti-spam protection work?

Deleting unsolicited advertising messages (spam) from the request list in WebAsyst Help Desk may be quite a hassle which can be avoided through the use of the Anti-spam feature in email box settings (see "Settings -> Email boxes"). This feature works as described below.

  1. When a message is received from an email address which is not registered in the Help Desk database, the system flags such a message as suspicious and sends an auto-reply with a special link to its sender.
  2. If the message was sent by your existing or potential customer, he or she will click that link to confirm the sending of the request. After the link is clicked, the sender's email address is saved in the database and all future messages from that address will be immediately added to the request list in WebAsyst Help Desk (no additional confirmation on the sender's part is required in this case).
  3. If the message is a spam, its sender will unlikely respond to any auto-replies to it or click the confirmation link. Therefore, such message (as well as any future messages from the same address) will not appear in the request list in WebAsyst Help Desk until they are confirmed by their sender.
Note: To ensure that your customers receive a confirmation link in auto-replies sent by the Help Desk application, add the {REQUEST_CONFIRM_URL} variable to the text box under the "Anti-spam" tab on the email box settings page.
