    WebAsyst Issues Features

    Connect

All you need is an Internet connection and one of the browsers listed:

Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari or Opera.

    No additional software is necessary.

There are two ways to use WebAsyst:

First option: Create an account on our server

Your files and data are stored on a secure, high-availability server cluster, and are accessible via Internet 24/7. Alternatively, you can use an SSL secured connection to protect your data while in transit. SSL encryption is widely used by payment systems, financial and governmental institutions to prevent hacking of transferred data.

Second option: Download and install software on your own server

WebAsyst applications are server scripts developed using PHP programming language. WebAsyst scripts, installed on your own server will perform identically to those installed on our. All features and functions available in our server accounts will be accessible in your own installed copy of the scripts. More detail on scripts.

    Adding issues

Issue is a request or task that needs to be resolved or carried out. Issues are formulated as a simple text description and can have files attached to them.

When you add an issue, in addition to the text and attached files, you can set its priority (Low, Normal, High), one of the predefined workflow states, and assign a person responsible for it from one of your account users.

    adding issues

WebAsyst Issues service is integrated with WebAsyst Projects service. This allows you to relate issue with tasks that were added to projects. This connection is very useful to break down complicated project tasks into smaller units and track their execution. You can group issues by project to set up their specific workflow status and team members access rights. This makes large lists of issues easy to manage and navigate.

    Manage workflow

The workflow is a set of issue progress states, from initiation to resolution including all necessary steps in between.

At each state issue can be assigned to a different user. For example, new issue receives “in progress” status. Assigned user tries to resolve it and then transfers it to the next status “review” for the assigned user in your work flow. This last user performs a review, and either closes the issue by setting its status as “complete” or returns it back to “in progress” if it requires additional attention.

    manage workflow

WebAsyst Issue Tracker works directly with WebAsyst Projects. The list of issues is grouped by projects and tasks within it. Each separate task can have its specific workflow template assigned to it. This makes issues tracking very flexible and valuable when monitoring many projects at one time. For example, “Web site development project” can be developed by one group of users and have its issues' workflow set up in “development –> testing –> publication” stages. A separate “Preparation of contracts with clients” project will be handled by another team from the legal department, and will use “prepare draft –> legal review –> management approval –> print and send to client”.

    Organize, navigate, and filter issues

WebAsyst Issue Tracker has a simple-to-use, intuitive interface that requires no special skills. On the left you see a panel with existing filters; on the right side you see a list of issues that conform to it, as well as a selected project or task.

Issues are listed based on priority assigned (High, Normal, Low).

    Using filters

When Issues service is actively used for a long time, you may have thousands of issues assigned to different people, in different states of resolution. Filters allow you to manage large lists and show only part of the entire database by selecting certain criteria. Some of the filters are:

    • Active issues (with any status other than “complete”)
    • Issues added today, in the last week, or in a certain period of time
    • My issues (created by or assigned to me)
    • Pending issues (those which status has not be changed for a long period of time)

WebAsyst Issue Tracker allows you to create your own filters or change those already predefined. If you do not use certain filters, you can easily delete them.

    Collaborate

Allow others to access your issues database

Your WebAsyst account has a “Users” directory, where you can create new users and give them access rights to contact folders in your account. Every user will have a personal login and password to enter the system. Once inside, users may access only those parts to which they have been given access.

    Projects rights inheritance

If you use WebAsyst Issue Tracker in conjunction with WebAsyst Projects, access rights to issues will be the same as the settings for the projects to which the issues are related. Therefore, users who already have access to certain projects will automatically have rights to issues associated with them. This feature will save administrative time.

    User groups and access rights

It is often necessary to assign identical access rights to a number of users at one time, based on their role within a team or organization. WebAsyst offers powerful capabilities to do so. This simplifies system management where there are a large number of users from different departments or branches.

Instead of giving rights to each user separately, create a group, specify its access rights, and then add member users to the group. Every user will inherit access rights that were set up for the group.

Each user can be a member of several groups and can have his own specifically set permissions. Effective rights will be a combination of personal and group rights of the user.

    Reports

WebAsyst Issue Tracker provides criteria-based statistical reports. You can choose parameters such as priority, project associated, current status, tasks, or assigned user.

Here is an example of a report showing issue status distribution by task with ability to view issue details:
